Spring Camp Japan combines adventure, education, leadership, and real-world impact.
Students learn directly from local communities that rebuilt after the 2011 tsunami while gaining practical skills in emergency response, environmental stewardship, and teamwork.

Search & Rescue
Learn essential skills for staying safe in and around the water, as well as practical techniques useful in emergencies, including ropes and knots, basic navigation, understanding tides and weather, and sea safety.

Swift Water Rescue
Train alongside local ex-firefighters and learn rope systems used in rescue operations.

First Aid & CPR
You will learn key elements of first aid and what to do in a medical emergency. You will learn how to do CPR and practice.

Practice emergency preparedness and learn how to respond during disasters.

Thinking about not only the physical condition, we will introduce you to some core elements of how to maintain and protect your own mental health, as well as that of those around you.

Ocean Revival
Join us as we pledge commitment to take action in safeguarding our oceans and fostering a sustainable future. Discover the sea's challenges and expand your creativity as we brainstorm innovative solutions to protect and preserve our precious oceans.

Precious Plastics
Our technician will introduce you to our Ocean Revival project, the machines for recycling plastics, and how we can collect waste plastic and reform it into useful and valuable items. You will also learn how to use the recycling machines.

Fishing Experience
Work alongside local fishermen and learn about coastal livelihoods in Nebama Bay and enjoy fishing.

Disaster Response
Learn from a local person who survived the Great East Japan Earthquake about the day of the disaster and how the community has been redesigning and restoring the town.

Students stay in carefully selected local accommodations.

The fee includes activity costs, meals, accommodation, and domestic travel insurance. Please note that round-trip transportation to and from Kamaishi is not included.

To support international participants, we offer a supervised airport transfer and travel support service.
This optional service ensures students are safely met upon arrival in Japan and supported through travel to and from the programme.
What does it include?
Meet & greet at Haneda Airport
Staff-supervised transfer to a designated Tokyo hotel
One night hotel accommodation in Tokyo
Dinner and breakfast
Supervised Shinkansen travel to Kamaishi
Return transfer from Kamaishi to Tokyo and airport drop-off after the programme

Round-trip (arrival & departure): ¥120,000
One-way trip: ¥60,000

Participants have joined from Canada, China, Denmark, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as international schools in Japan and communities across the country — from Hokkaido to Okinawa.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is Japanese language ability required to apply?

No Japanese language proficiency is required. During the program, communication takes place in both Japanese and English, and we value participants’ willingness to engage and communicate actively rather than their language ability. Bilingual staff are available to provide support whenever Japanese language assistance is needed.
Can I participate on my own?

Yes. Most participants join the camp on their own. While some attend with siblings or friends, room assignments and activity groups may be arranged separately to encourage interaction with other participants.
