Nebama Bay is located in Iwate Prefecture, on the North Eastern coast of Japan, around 20 minutes from Kamaishi City. It is an absolutely stunning location with tree covered mountains next to the pacific ocean. The fresh air, wildlife and scenery make it an idyllic place to visit.

Atlantic Pacific has training bases in London, England and Wales, UK. Our mission is to combat global drowning through search & rescue, education and training, community outreach and by designing sea safety solutions.

Atlantic Pacific values the safety of everyone we work with. We work frequently with children and young people and we especially prioritise their safety and well-being at all times.
All our staff and volunteers who work with children and young people have undergone and consistently update certified Safeguarding training.

We are part of the UWC X initiative. Previous participants tell us that their university applications have been significantly improved by attending our programmes.
Attending one of our camps demonstrates a well-rounded, adventurous and open-minded approach to learning.
Specialist Skills

Our instructors are highly experienced medical and SAR experts coming from a diverse range of backgrounds.
They have designed all of our training programming with a rigorous combination of real-world experience and programming infrastructure from recognised institutions like the RNLI, IMRF, and the HSE.

Working with the Kamaishi Beach Lifeguards, our course participants learn key elements of first aid and what to do in a medical emergency, including psychological First Aid.

Teaching in schools
We educate young children about sea-safety as part of our world-wide drowning prevention work. We raise awareness in the community and encourage children to be confident and safe around water.
We work with local educational institutions, recreational organisations, rescue services and municipal leaders, tailoring our teaching to suit each age group.

Lifeboat in a box
Our Lifeboat in a Box provides life-saving facilities in a transportable, self-contained unit. It sits in Nebama Bay, ready to be deployed by our local team.
During our residential camps, when the weather allows, we take the boat out to sea.
It is a unique lifeboat station, empowering the local community who are vulnerable to natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis.
The container holds a custom-built lifeboat so that when the unthinkable strikes, it can be ready to help rescue those in need.

United Nations SDGs
Underlining all our activities is our commitment to the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. Our course participants learn in small group workshops that focus on generating creative ideas to tackle ocean plastic in Kamaishi.
We are inextricably linked to the sea and this element of our course ensures that we educate young people to protect the ocean, as well as enjoying it safely.
Our workshop leaders teach practical skills based on the principles of a world-wide plastic recycling system called Precious Plastic.
